The 1st Psalm
| 1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. | 1. So, saints that honestly seek here the ways of the Lord, shunning all that which is rotten, find in the end, fortunes of absolute contentment. |
| 2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. | 2. Oh, he that waited findeth all hidden truth. Yea, God's light is able to dawn in his mind. |
| 3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. | 3. When sinless brethren shall look forward to salvation, if they have high hopes of this rather blessed eternal life, let the Lord be praised with an harp's airs. Ah that tune! |
| 4. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. | 4. Oh, and the wicked guy? Straw blown in the fury of the air. Ah, the vice halted! |
| 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. | 5. Note: another adulterer's gone, shunned into hell. The mighty throne of God grants justice for the sinning. |
| 6. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. | 6. Ah, but thy God figures out who's holy; wherefore the filthy ones' dark path went to hell. |
