| 1. I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes. | 1. I deplore the mere world; I seek totally that true way which is Him. |
| 2. I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies. | 2. Heaven's touch? I'm in tears and I seek it; so let deity help me. |
| 3. I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word. | 3. If down, in danger, I depend on thy might, and then I've coped with error. |
| 4. Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. | 4. I? I'm the victim with the pain; then, God, grant thee my tears thy sweet end. |
| 5. Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to thy judgment. | 5. Cry detected? Oh look! God's kind grace, moving in mercy, ends it. Count on having much tranquil joy. |
| 6. They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law. | 6. The filthy who drift from faith face great eternal alarms: Why! O why! |
| 7. Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth. | 7. Man, err not, trust a holy moral document, and halt hatred. |
| 8. Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever. | 8. I've thought much of the covenants; and I oft think they, reminders of old, are not so new. |
